We all pray. For those who prefer another word, how about this. We all have hopes, wishes and wants, presented to an unknown but innately-recognized entity we believe can provide what we desire. If you are of the Christian faith, you believe your requests or pleas are heard and provided through the name of Jesus. In John 14:14 Jesus reminds us that “if you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” As a result of this, every Christian prayer usually ends in some variation of “in the name of Jesus… Amen.” But what does it mean to ask or pray in the name of Jesus? What does it truly mean to invoke that name besides the perfunctory religious act taught to us by our elders?

Ever since the beginning, we have lived with the realization of an invisible clock counting down our time left in this realm. Because we know we are to expire from this existence when the clock hits zero, we become obsessed with time. Some of us, as the philosopher Albert Camus suggests, try to cram in as many experiences as possible into our timeslot, hoping these experiences will provide us some comfort with the seeming absurdity of life. Other folks seek solace in not quantities of experiences, but in their quality. They resolve to live according to certain guidelines or rules, hoping to reach peace and happiness from whatever entity that placed them within time. Whichever way we each decide, absurdity or purpose, we all, on occasion, have had a quarrel with the timing of events in our lives.

We all have dreams. Aspirations as high as the stars. Unbeknownst to our conscious mind however, we have allowed the clarity and belief of that dream to be extinguished by the dogma of this world. While that is the case for most of us, some have managed to see their dreams realized. Not through any dishonest or nefarious means, but through obedience, honesty and hard work. They were able to realize their dream not because of any superpowers or special abilities that the rest of us do not possess, but simply because they have an understanding that most do not. I believe these folks understand that success, and happiness in life, lies in a universal process through which all dreams are realized. The knowledge of the process is liberating to say the least, and easy to understand. Its application, however, is a much more challenging task. The process is as follows: Word or Vision—Faith or Action—Doubt or Challenge—Realization or Fulfillment.
“Every endeavor, every journey, begins with a Word or Vision.”

“A Miracle is an event happening in your favor at precisely the right time.” – LifWisdom
Mankind’s greatest flaw and weakness is that we are egocentric. We believe that we are the center of everything. That things start and end with us. That we’re the prototype. Once upon a time we believed the Earth to be the center of our galaxy. We were of course wrong, but if you ponder why we would assume so in the first place, you’ll come to understand why so many wisdoms and understandings have eluded us for so long. The wisest and genius amongst us have realized that to grow or evolve is to see beyond ourselves.
When it comes to having faith, we often do so in exchange for something. We” have faith” when we want something really badly and it is beyond our means of acquiring it. We must therefore “hope” or “trust” that some force in the universe, i.e. God, will come to our rescue and provide it. This view of faith is no doubt useful at time, but it falls short of the grand meaning of faith. What does it truly mean to have faith?

I just finished watching a most wonderful film entitled “God’s Not Dead” on Netflix. Definite Must-See for folks of all walks of life. It puts face to face Atheist and Christian arguments of God’s existence. It was very tastefully done. At the end, I did not feel overwhelmed with religion. It was a feel-good film reminding you not only of God’s existence but the necessity of faith in our lives. One powerful message came when a character was comparing his life to another’s. Him being “the meanest” guy he knows is living the ‘perfect’ life, while her, who he considers ‘the kindest’ person, her life is full of suffering. She replied “sometimes the devil allows people to live a life free of trouble cause he doesn’t want them turning to God”.
“Sometimes the devil allows people to live a life free of trouble because he doesn’t want them turning to God.”
Upon hearing this, I was reminded of a Biblical verse saying, “Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed” and I felt it urgent to share this with you.

Has life ever knocked you down? Knocked you down so hard you never imagined being on your feet again? Have you ever felt overwhelmed, lost, defeated? If so, I’m sure someone has told you to “Have Faith”.
Have you ever been in a situation, where no matter how bleak it appeared you just knew that somehow it would all work out? You don’t know where this certainty came from but you accepted it just the same. Nothing or No one could tell you otherwise.
What is Faith?
The Bible says:
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.
